August Favourites

IMG_0531.JPG

Running through some of the products I have been loving in August. I have decided that any products I have used in August I am not going to use in September . This will force me to try all new products in September and hopefully I will find some new products I love. Otherwise the next post is going to be more of a September Sh*t 😂

I was super lucky to go to the Charlotte Tilbury launch in London last month. It was a fab day launching lots of new products but primarily focused on their new loose powder and a new concealer .

Charlotte Tilbury- Magic Powder:

Launching in Brown Thomas soon!

Launching in Brown Thomas soon!

I am a loose powder kind of gal. Lots of people hate loose powder because it’s so messy and gets bloody everywhere. Now this is true but it is worth the work. Loose powder is milled much finer than compact powder . This means that in comparison to compact powder loose powder won’t sit in fine lines or sit in open pores. The biggest challenge with loose powder is that it can dehydrate and dry out the skin. I am always dubious about trying new loose powders overall. I have really dehydrated skin so I have to be really careful about powders. The good news is that this powder does not disappoint. I am not sure how they have done it but they have  created a loose powder with a gorgeous glow. This powder perfectly sets your foundation but gives a silk like finish to the skin. Now I would not recommend this powder for anyone who has an oily skin type as it does not completely matify the skin . It comes in a number of shades and I am using the fair shade and I am hooked .

Top Tip:

You can use this powder again during the day to tackle any shiny spots and it will not cake. I don't know what the secret ingredient is but it truly is magic.

Charlotte Tilbury- Magic Away:

This product I can not get enough of . It is a liquid under eye concealer that has a stunning brightening effect. That said, although I am big fan of the formula, I do not love the applicator. It’s a sponge tip and I find it deposits too much of the product under the eye and the product over a long period of use gets super messy as the product spills out on the component. Even though it’s not without its faults I am still using it everyday because the formula I really like . It’s full coverage for the under eye but it doesn’t look heavy and it doesn’t sit in fine lines. So for this product it’s a thumbs up for the formula but a thumbs down on the applicator.

Top Tip:

Once you have applied the product make sure to blend soon after. The formula can dry down quickly so if you don't move fast it might be a little hard to blend. The good part to this is that is doesn't move throughout the day.

Benefit Cosmetics- Brow Contour Pro:

€35 available on Cloud 10 Beauty.

Now obviously I am biased because I work for the brand but this product has me super excited and every time I share it online people seem to have a very positive response to it. I mainly love it because it is so convenient. I have always used two shades of brow pencil on my brows for a more textured finish. I also use a concealer to clean up the line under my brow and when I am feeling extra, I will throw some highlight in the arch. I now have a pencil that does it all. The component has a nostalgic element that brings you back to those clicks pens you had with the different colours . It’s all there and super simple to use . I am working on a video demo of this which I will upload asap but it has been a little challenging to edit so it is a little delayed. The formula in this pencil functions like a pomade.

Top Tip:

As this is not your regular pencil and the product is super pigmented, make sure to go light on your application. Small hair like strokes in the direction of the hair growth.

Trilogy- Rosehip Oil:

€32.95 Available at Meaghers Pharmacy

This has become my new Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream . I throw it on everything! Wherever my skin is dry or looking a little sad, I pop a few drops of this little miracle worker on and voila....brand new! Everyday I mix 3 or 4 drops of this in with my moisturiser and it really ups the longterm hydration. Also it is packed with antioxidants so works hard to keep your skin feeling fabulous. I have also been using this mixed in with my foundation on the weekends to give a lighter dewy finish to the skin. I wouldn't recommend doing this if you have oily skin but if you are anywhere from dry to combination skin this will bring your foundation to life.

Top Tip:

If you happen to forget your lipbalm two drops of this beauty miracle will keep those lips hydrated all day long. Warning: Doesn't taste great so maybe don't follow it up with an in depth snogging session.

Powder N' Pout- P230 Foundation Brush

€16 available at Powder N' Pout

€16 available at Powder N' Pout

I have become addicted to this foundation brush and if I don't take it away for a few weeks, I might never trial another foundation brush again. This brush gets an even blend on you foundation and it makes applying your base super quick. I use it to blend out my under eye and my contour. I use it for EVERYTHING! What I love about this brush is that it is super affordable and also  Powder N' Pout is an Irish brand which is always a plus.

Top Tip:

Use a stippling motion when using this brush. Almost like a dabbing motion as you move across the face. Try not to buff with this brush as you won't get that airbrushed finish!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I am super nervous about abandoning my make up bag and trying all new products but it is a great way to force myself to try new products and hopefully fall in love with some new things to share with you guys here!
